HUNOLT, AMBER, 1649 S 31st St, Decatur IL 62521 (my granddaughter) is about 3 months pregnant and is having problems. She has a low-lying placenta. The doctors say that it usually moves up as the pregnancy goes on, but if it doesn't, she could have to be on complete bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy. There is also the chance that the baby would be premature and that she may have to have a C-section. She, husband Joey, and daughter, Kaidy, need your prayers for the safety of this pregnancy. UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS, Lawrence KS, was hit by a tornado last Sunday (3/12). "The city of Lawrence and the university were hit pretty hard. Winds were estimated at around 100mph. Later that afternoon around 1:15pm another tornado, with winds around 80-90mph hit the same area in Lawrence, Kansas. The university itself has damages of around 6 million dollars. One class building has been closed and many areas of other buildings are closed due to the damage. I was working on the residence hall where I live, when the first tornado
hit and I can tell you it was quite the experience because I am used to hurricanes, but definitely not tornadoes. Although there were no deaths or injuries, many students suffered losses to their cars because of the flying debris everywhere. I also had the opportunity to go around campus and Lawrence and witness what had happen. Power was lost, some homes were damaged and others destroyed. Class was cancelled on Monday March 13, but resumed Tuesday. There is still no clear estimate on damages in Lawrence, but if we can all pray for a quick recovery to the city, the university, and its community so that we can all get back to our routine lives. I would appreciate all prayers from everyone. Thank you and have a good day. Sincerely, Carlos M. Martinez"

LUCAS, DON, Yreka CA, owned a large logging company and made a very good, although dangerous, living. Then the spotted owl was spotted, pardon the pun, and logging was stopped dead. Since then, for too many years to mention, he has taken any job he could get. He has worked in the warehouse at WalMart, worked for Fish and Game tagging and stripping salmon, etc. He is also a volunteer firefighter, taking every course offered, trains the new volunteers and man's the station, when he can. He is a great guy who works very hard at part time jobs, trying to keep a roof over their heads. He is in my prayers every night, to find a year around job that pays a decent wage. Today my daughter told me that he is up for two full time, year around positions, both driving heavy equipment. One pays $15 an hour and the other pays $16. (I know this doesn't sound like a lot, but it sounds like a fortune in this area of the country.) They are both so excited. I am requesting prayers that he will get one of these jobs. That would truly be an answer to many prayers. He thinks he will be called for an interview tomorrow or Tuesday. Please pray for his success. ( Message sent by Wendy Hendrickson of Austin TX.)

PARKER, LES, (Cell phone 707-623-6916) an ex-prisoner of a California prison, has been in a half-way house for 6
weeks. House was shut-down and people told to get out with no where to go. He has been taking college courses to better himself. He writes: " I am not able to make long distance calls however I can receive them. Furthermore, I do not have messaging service just bare knuckles. You can reach me on the Sabbath around 1p.m. CA time and around 9a.m. Sunday's till around 5p.m. unless I am in the library which opens around 2p.m or out helping this 83 year old and his 93 yr old sister to drive their vehicle to shop or helping in the garden. I do not believe in using a phone while driving as I have read and seen too many collisions in CA. that could have been avoided if they were not on the phone especially when they are using one hand to hold the phone. If there is anything you can do to help him in some way, please call him. If not, please pray for him.
February 17, 2005 ---
RANDALL, JOHN, 1995 W Myrtle, Netarts OR 97143 (an Army buddy of Ed Mebane of Mt. Pleasant TX) has a grade 4 multi-form flioblastoma, the most highly aggressive form of brain tumor - most likely a result of the use of Agent Orange in Viet Nam. He suffers memory loss, seizures, relentless headaches, and intense smells. A tumor was removed which was pushing against the brain, but cells not identified will regenerate, causing new tumors. Radiation was begun on January 13, which may extend his life 11-12 months, without it, 4-6 months. Please pray for God's inter-verntion for John.
February 17, 2005 ---
ROACH, PEARL, of California has a thyroid disorder called Wilson's Temperature Syndrome, which causes her body

WATTS, JEREMIAH, #482130, A-N-244, Cimmaron Correctional Facility, 3700 S Kings Hwy, Cushing OK 74023,(early 20's) is currently incarcerated (from what I have been told, he was arrested while with a friend riding in a stolen car). He is also grieving since his mother just died, and he was not able to go to the funeral. He has no contact with his biological father, and he has had no one to visit him. He needs prayers for strength and guidance, to return to keeping the commandments, and rededicating his life to God/YWHW. He would much appreciate cards and letters, as he is feeling very lonely and feeling abandoned right now. A male mentor to continue to correspond with him regularly now, and after he is discharged later this year, would be invaluable. The Muslims are a powerful force in our prisons, and often sway inmates while there to reject the Bible and to accept Mohammed and the Koran, because they show that they are interested in the men there. Thanks in advance to all who write.
February 16, 2006 --
Your prayers are requested for BARBARA REIGELSPERGER of Florida, currently in Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, who will be going in for lung cancer surgery very early tomorrow (Friday) morning. February 16, 2006 --
I also have some bad news to report. Newborn SAM TOWNE who was born with no ambiotic fluid, then was found to have 3 blood clots,
died yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, The baby had surgery done Tuesday and they were able to remove one blood clot. The one on the heart had hardened so they scraped off what they could. Another one had moved and they could not find it. The baby had urinated during surgery so they thought that was a bit of a hope since it appeared that his body was functioning alright. On Wednesday, however, they had increased fluids to try to disolve the blood clots that they didn't get during surgery and his kidney had started to fail. About 3:00 p.m. they took him off of all tubes. Please pray for his parents and family. They need God's love, comfort and peace at this time.
February 16, 2006 --
I'm also sorry to report that JOSH AND BRIANNA LONG (Maxine Kappel's grandson) lost their baby last Saturday. She was between 30 and 31 weeks pregnant. If you remember he was the baby who had the mass on his lungs. Please pray for his parents and family, they are taking it very hard.

Prayers are being requested for little SAM TOWNE (a newborn):
Sunday 2/12:
SAM TOWNE was born 5 weeks early on Friday 2/10, because an ultrasound showed that there was no amniotic fluid left. He was 6lbs 7oz at birth, but he developed pnuemonia from the lack of amniotic fluid. On Sunday he was taken to Cincinnati Children's hospital because his blood pressure in hisextremities was not what it should be. An echocardiogram showed that he hasa kink in his aorta and they want to do surgery but they have to wait until Wednesday to give the antibiotics more time to knock out the pnuemonia. PLease pray for little Sam and for his parents Bryan and Katie and for his 2 year old brother Isaac, who is probably very upset Mommy and Daddy aren't home. Thanks so much.
February 13, 2006 --
Monday 2/13:
Baby Sam is struggling today. The latest news is: He never had pnuemonia and the kink in the aorta was not a kink. He has 3 blood clots. One is in his neck, one is in his aorta and one is in the atrium of his heart. Right now he is on heprin ( a blood thinner) to try to disolve the clots and on a drug that they give to stroke victims. If these drugs do not work, surgery may be required. I thank God that he was kept at the hospital where these things could be discovered because if he had been sent home he would be in greater danger. I thank all of you for your prayers. Please also pray for the strength of his mother and father. They they are frazzled and very worried." Please pray for God's mercy on this little one.

FROM MANIS AND ANNA SAMMONS IN FLORIDA:
We have just learned that our grandson, ADAM, may have a tumor in his head. He has been plagued with headaches and trouble with his vision in his left eye. Tests were done and the optic nerve of his left eye is swollen. The doctors are very concerned and will be running tests in the morning…they suspect a tumor. We are asking that you pray for our Adam…he is so precious to us. I’m sure that those of you, who have grandchildren, or children, will understand just what we are feeling right now. We have placed Adam in God’s hands. Thank you all so very much for your prayers. We will keep you updated.

FROM MAXINE KAPPEL IN TULSA OK:
"I am feeling much better. I do go in for an epidural tomorrow afternoon (today 2/13) at 2:30. Sherry is taking me since I will not be able to drive myself home. It is supposed to do something to relieve pressure on the nerve where a disc is pressing. I also have an EMG scheduled for the 21st at 9:30 to see what is going on with my left ankle. When the doctors hit it with their little hammers, their response is " nobody's home down there", so they are trying to find out why not."
"Things went very well on Friday for my brother Court Greenfield. He got to the hospital before 6:00 a.m. and it was over and back in his room by 10:00. The stent is longer than the last one as the blockage showed at 90% instead of the 75% 3 weeks ago. He had one scary moment about 30 min. after going to his room when he had some severe chest pains and his heart rate and blood pressure dropped dramatically. Alarms went off everywhere. You talk about everyone scurrying around. They got him stabilized and then all went well. The Dr. said that sometimes after the placement of a stent, some of the blockage material is released into the blood stream and causes temporary blockages elsewhere - that's why he was on some pretty potent drugs to prevent problems. The drugs have a very short half life and are out of the system within about an hour. The first hour after this procedure is very critical and he has to lay very still. But, all is well that ends well. He was released around 8 AM this morning and is now at home resting. He has to take it easy for about a week until the leg artery heals. (They went back in the same leg artery as before.) After that, he can start to resume normal activities like dancing. He is taking Monday off and then will go back to school. We are just so thankful this was caught in time before a serious/deadly heart attack had occurred. Thank you for all the prayers."

REPORT FROM WENDY HENDRICKSON ABOUT LITTLE GRANDDAUGHTER, CANDACE:
Thank you for your prayers. Laura just got home with Cadence so I have some news. The doctor said she has the "crud", and that it is going around. Cadence had not been running a fever but by the time she got to the doctor's office, the fever had started. We have been told that, as long as she has the fever, she is highly contagious, so we sent my grandsons to their other grandmother in the hope that they will not contract this. The doctor said to give her diluted Pedialyte in small amounts and Tylenol suppositories. She has had about 3 ounces of the Pedialyte and, so far, has held it down, but she held down the formula I gave her earlier today for about 45 minutes and them projectile vomited it up. He also said that if Cadence has no tears or saliva to bring her back tomorrow. If she has no saliva, she is going to the emergency room immediately. That's a guarantee. She feels so crummy. I held her while she slept for about 30 minutes and she was like a rag doll, just limp. She is so very tired. AND the diarhea has started up again. She normally has a ready smile, but today her smiles are hidden away under the illness. After a few more treatments of Pedialyte, which she tolerated very well, and sucked down really fast; she is getting more as she requires it and is rehydrating very well. No more diarhea or vomiting and she has urinated a second time. We are treating her fever with Tylenol and Motrin, alternating between the two, which is working very well. She is eating easy to digest foods, is crawling again and playing with her toys. Her lovely smiles can't be far behind!
Thank you all for your prayers. I can see them working, healing her. I am a very strong believer in prayer already and this just proves to me, yet again, how powerful is His love for us."

BROWN, FAYE, 4634 Pine Hollow Ln, LaRue TX 75770, I have been coughing, you know, for about 8 weeks now and I finally went to Dr. Spain Friday. He took a chest x-ray and said I have an infiltrate in my lungs. Beats me, but I went on line to look it up and read just enough to worry me so I stopped. He has me on antibiotics for 2 weeks and I go back a week from this Friday for another x-ray. I am a little worried, but not a lot. Thanks again.

DAWSON, ISABELLE, Durango CO. Richard Gawith of Tulsa wrote asking for prayers for Isabelle, wife of Alex, a boss of Rick's a few years ago. Isabelle has been fighting cancer now for several years and this latest news is devastating after such a long battle. Alex wrote the following to Rick: "I am sorry to tell you that my wife, Isabelle, was diagnosed last Saturday with extensive metastatic cancer involvement in the brain. She has decided not to continue treatment as the last chemotherapy (her seventh) had failed and the only option at this point would be whole-brain radiation. It is anybody’s guess just how long she will be with us. I know that you are a very religious man, and I would like to ask you to say a prayer for her. I do not wish to see her go in pain." Please pray with Rick and Alex for God's mercy and comfort for Isabelle, and also for Alex.

HAUFLER, LISA, 4950 Shardyhill Drive, Chandler TX 75758 - kidney & urinary tract problems, high white blood count - UPDATE: The urologist, on Friday morning. did another urinalyses and found bacteria in the urine. He is going to culture it & find out what antibiotic she needs and put her on that for 3 weeks. She is going to come back in 3 weeks and see what is going on then. He may put her on a low grade antibiotic for 6 months. Neither one of us are pleased with this and we are going to get a 2nd opinion. Lisa and her mother think she needs to be in the hospital and to find out where this infection is coming from and be closely monitored with the antibiotics. No other appointments have been scheduled until 2/15 and this is the fouth infection in 6 months. Please keep her on the prayer lines as to the best course of action so she can get well.

COURT, brother of Maxine Kappel of Tulsa - heart cathardization on Wednesday 1/25 - UPDATE: Court was scheduled to go in as an outpatient on Wed. for the heart cath, but on Tues. he had chest pains again and his Dr. told him to go to the ER. Good thing he did. He was admitted, given nitro and IV's, etc. On Wed. he had the cath; he has numerous blockages, 2 of which are extremely severe (95% & 75% blocked) and 1 not quite so severe. The cardiology team decided to put in a stent and fix the 95% blocked artery and there was an immediate relief. They will do the other one in 2 weeks. The Dr. told me he had never seen anyone alive with such severe blockages who had not had a deadly heart attack. His heart is healthy otherwise. He is on beta blockers, thinners, cholesterol meds, and aspirin. He is a walking miracle! They couldn't do the other one at the same time as there is a limit of how much dye the kidneys can tolerate. Any more and it would destroy the kidneys. So, as soon as all the dye is out of his system, he will have the other one done. The Dr. said he will feel like a new man. But, he needs to start a walking, swimming, bike riding, exercise program (after he is well) to prevent any more blockages. He will need to be remembered again in a couple of weeks when he undergoes the procedure again. Please remember him in your prayers.
February 3, 2006 –

LISA, 38, (last name unknown) writes: "Well I hat4e to send this out in email and some of you may have already heard the news from here -- I had my routine 3-month CT scan yesterday and I am sad to report that my cancer has returned. It does not look very good at this point. It appears to have decided to grow in my Liver, Lung and another Lymph node somewhere in my chest. This is not the news I was looking to hear but then again it is never the news one wants to hear.
I will have to begin chemo again, that means that I will once again be bald. When I asked the doctor how long I had she did not give me a definite answer, I am not sure if she even knows. I did ask her if I would see another Christmas and she said she hoped I would, but could not promise me that I would. I am not afraid for myself but I am scared for my 3 boys: they are too young to be without their mother. I ask that if you’re a person who prays, that you pray for me and my family. This is the 3rd time I have had to deal with this in the last 3 yrs. I can not even believe I am on this roller coaster ride again. Please keep us all in your thoughts and if you would not mind saying a prayer I would appreciate it so much.
Thanks again, Lisa."

LONG, JOSH AND BRIANNA, grandson of Maxine Kappel of Tulsa OK, are expecting; she is 29 weeks along. They had an ultra sound done and the baby has a mass on his lung. At first they thought it was just a fluid mass, but now have found a hard mass within that mass. There are several options some of which could cause serious harm to Brianna as well as the baby, (such as allowing the baby to go full term). They are checking into doing surgery in the womb (she may be too far along for this) or delivering the baby and doing surgery. None of these options are giving good chances for the baby, but we believe in miracles and we are all asking for prayers that they will make the right decision and that God will intervene in this, and the baby will be healed. Please pray for this young family.

ZIOMEK-WITEK, JANINE, 165 Stanislas St #1, Buffalo NY 14212 - UPDATE: After her doctors visit this week, it will be a roller-coaster ride for Janine and her husband for the next 6 weeks. HAUFLER, LISA, 4950 Shardyhill Drive, Chandler TX 75758, will be going in tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. to a urologist for evaluation and treatment. About a month ago, she had a urinary tract infection, was treated with anti-biotics, and returned for a checkup this week and was given a Cat Scan which caused her a reaction to the dye. It was found that both kidneys had puss in them and her white count was just slightly elevated. During a visit later, blood work was done and the white blood count was up to 37.5. It was at 11 on the earlier visit and 9-10 is normal. Today she was passing dark stool (possibly blood) and she is quite scared and sick. Please pray for her for the outcome of
this visit tomorrow. Pray they can find what is wrong and correct it.
JOHNSON, JIM, Sedalia MO, will be going in for reconstructive back surgery on Thursday, February 2. This is the third back surgery he's had in his life. This time doctors will be removing the last remaining lumbar discs in his back and then performing the reconstructive part of the 7-9 hour procedure. With this operation there is a 50% chance that he won't make it through and a 50% chance that if he does make it through, he'll be paralyzed. On top of the already complicated situation, Jim has been suffering mini-strokes as of late that may force a cancellation of the surgery. His daughter, Mary, has been stressing through this for about 2 months now, as this was originally scheduled back on Jan. 5. Notes of encouragement can be sent to the family (Jim has 2 other sons, Chris and Jeremiah) through e-mail at candlesbyfaith@yahoo.com or through snail mail at Rt. 1 Box 578, Butler, MO 64730. Please pray for Jim and his family.

KAPPEL, MAXINE, 8927 E Marshall St, Tulsa OK 74115 had her MRI done and took it to her doctor last Thursday (January 26). He said she has degenerate spine and arthritis in her back, which is causing her pain in her left leg, so painful she can hardly walk. She was off work last week and this week, as she has an appointment on Friday (February3) with the Evaluation & Treatment Center here in Tulsa. They are going to evaluate the situation and see if giving her a shot in the spine with something that apparently is to cushion the area that is resting on a nerve to relieve the pain. She needs to get back to work (she can't afford being unpaid) and is also looking for a health insurance of a reasonable cost, (with decent coverage), since she will be losing her insurance soon, due to divorce. She requests that we please keep her in our prayers and thanks us for them.

ALCORN, BENJAMIN LUKE, 7 months old son of Tim and Kathleen Alcorn of Talahasee FL - reported this week with possible
Kawasaki Disease - UPDATE late 1/22: "We wanted to let you know that Benjamin Luke is now running a high temperature and the doctors are trying to bring it down. The rash on his hands look like it is trying to clear up, but his feet still look bad. His cry is really weak, and the doctor’s did an EKG to see how his heart is doing, so far, it is alright. if he is still running a high tem-perature tomorrow, they will start giving him small doses of Gamma Globulin – this is a form of purified antibodies, an ingredient of blood that helps the body to fight off infection. We all are praying that he does not have to be given the gamma globulin, because that is made from blood that has been donated by many people. Thanks to each one of you for your prayers and concerns for this precious baby. Please keep praying for him to be healed and for strength for his young parents. We all know that God can hear the thoughts or just a mere whisper of one person and answer, but I’m sure that He is pleased and touched when many of His children come together to ask Him to bless and heal."

COURT is the brother of Maxine Kappel of Tulsa OK and received this message from PAT, his wife, on Saturday. "As you know, Court had to be rushed to the hospital a couple of weeks ago with chest pains. He underwent a stress test this past Mon. on which he did very well. How-ever, his cardiologist called yesterday and told him he has a severe but partial blockage to the main artery in the heart. He is being sche-duled for a heart catherization ASAP. In the meantime, he is to do nothing strenuous or get stressed out (and he's a teacher!). The Dr. is hoping for Wed. There will be a team of cardiologists who will do the procedure which is supposed to be easy, painless and relatively risk free. I will give you an update afterwards and let you know how he's doing. In the meantime, Court sends his love to all of you. Please don't worry - just pray about it. Hope everything is going well for all of you and that the next email will bring good news. Love, Court & Pat"

ALICE KIRBY asks that you pray for a situation. I have lost my wallet that had my money in it. I had just cashed my paycheck. We don't know if I dropped it at day care or when I got gas, or if Kris took it out at home. We have looked everywhere we know to look and are still looking. We have not paid bills yet, and Jim still has no job. He has checked on several and should hear back this week. All things are possible through God. We are praying that God will lead us to it. Thanks for your prayers,

Seven month old BENJAMIN LUKE, son of TIM AND KATHLEEN ALCORN of Tallahassee, FL is very ill tonight (22nd) and is in the hospital. He shows signs of having an illness called Kawasaki Disease. It involves the skin, mouth and lymph nodes, and typically affects children who are under the age of five. The cause of the disease is unknown, but if the symptoms are recognized early, the child can fully recover within a few days….if it goes untreated, it can lead to serious complications that can affect the heart, coronary arteries, the heart muscle, lining, valves, and the outer membrane that surrounds the heart can become inflamed. It can also cause arrhythmias (changes in the normal pattern of the heartbeat). Signs of this disease are severe redness in the eyes, a rash on the child’s skin. Red, dry, cracked lips, swollen tongue with a white coating and big red bumps, sore, irritated throat, swollen lymph nodes. Benjamin is already exhibiting some of these signs. He has always been a happy baby that smiles a lot, but when he tries to smile tonight, he can’t because it hurts his mouth too much. He also has a rash on his hands and feet. They have done tests and it will take 48 hours before they will know for sure if this is what is wrong with Benjamin Luke. His parents, his sister and brother would appreciate it so much if you all would pray for him. Thanks to each one of you and may God hear our prayers and heal little Benjamin Luke. We will keep you posted.

And from DON BERKEY, 600 S Chestnut St, Scottdale PA 15683 asks: "Would you place my beloved wife LINDA on the prayer lines? She has been diagnosed with breast cancer. We have begun chemo therapy at McGee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh and Linda’s outlook is wonderful. She is not afraid and has placed herself in God’s hands. We had finished up all the necessary testing this past Friday and were surprised that the doctors wanted to begin chemo therapy that very day. Her first session went well but she is tired. Our next session is on February 10th, again at McGee. One doctor said there is a 25% chance the tumor will disappear entire while the other one projects perhaps a 17% chance. We both know that God has a purpose for this, but we are not as yet intended to know what that purpose is. We wait on His will. We have learned already just how very much we mean to each other and how precious our friends truly are. They are a blessing. We are much more precious to Him. Thank you so much."
